I’m a bilingual writer and audio producer based in China for the past 20 years. My work has appeared in the New York Times, Time Magazine, on the public radio show The World, and podcasts including 99 Percent Invisible and Radiolab.
Journalism is a team sport, and I’m proud to have worked on reporting teams in China for CBS News, Associated Press TV, and Plastics News, covering everything from the 2008 and 2022 Beijing Olympics to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I’ve also supported PBS Frontline, ABC News with Diane Sawyer, CBS News 60 Minutes, ESPN, BBC, and This American Life with field production.
2014 11th Hour Food and Farming Journalism Fellow at University of California, Berkeley.
I’m available for reporting, tape syncs, production work, ghost writing, copyediting, and podcast coaching.
Curiosity is my compass, and storytelling is my craft.
Storytelling in Words and Sound
In my more than 15 years of experience reporting from China, I’ve always been driven by curiosity. I try to translate that into insightful, nuanced reporting humanizing the people I come across and talk with every day for audiences around the world. I want to give readers and listeners the context and background for the story, not just presenting the facts but also revealing the resilience, humor, and creativity of the people I encounter.
